*we are not holding space

We have put together a few locations put together spread over two periods of time which are interspersed with time at the Lisa’s house in the Mara.

We have not booked any of this but have seen that the locations/lodges/camps are wide open and available. If you begin to lean towards any of these ideas then we can take the next step and provisionally hold some space while you think about things.

The first place that we would like to send you would be Sirikoi on Lewa Conservancy near mount Kenya. There is good wildlife there and you can do some lovely hiking. It also acts as a great base from which to explore with the helicopter. The helicopter trip into the Northern Deserts and forests has to be one of the most interesting trips that one can do here in East Africa. It touches on culture, pre-history, geology, biodiversity, spectacular scenery and getting far away from the crowd. In order to make better use of the helicopter time we have suggested a night at Kitich Camp as that would give us the chance to go more slowly and stop more often and for longer on the way north or south. It s a great luxury to not have to rush the helicopter time.

We then suggest that you take a four night break at the Slater’s in the Mara where you can relax in the Mara climate, go for lovely game drives, walk, and hang out with the Slaters.

After your time at the Slaters we would hop you across the border using scheduled flights to Tanzania going via Tarime. These flights tend to leave early but it means that we can have you into Namiri Plains Camp by lunch time. Namiri is one of our favourite camps and it sits on the Eastern Edge of the Serengeti. It is one of the best places on earth to see lions and cheetah. You will explore large areas of the short grass plains and kopjes. There is a chance that ( especially if a big storm comes through before you get there ) that the main herds of wildebeest migration are within reach of this camp. However its it probably more likely that you will see more wildebeest from the next camp Ubuntu. However it is good to have both camps on the itinerary as it increases our chances of finding the location of the main herd at some point.

After Namiri you will drive to Ubuntu Camp which is based near Kusini in the woodland that borders the short grass plains of the Southern Serengeti. We will drive between the two camps across huge expenses of wilderness that should have good game in January.

You only have 4 nights in the Serengeti and much of it will be spent on long ( in a good way ) game drives. Using the two locations as bases will help make sure that you hit the motherlode of the migration somewhere.

After your time in the Serengeti you would then hop back to Kenya to spend a few more days with the Slaters in Nairobi or the Mara before you head home
