We will arrange a hotel driver to meet you on arrival. It's a short drive through the airport area to the hotel.

The ground-floor entrance lobby is modern, light and airy and consists of the reception, the Lobby Bar and a comfortable seating area.

The hotel has two restaurants. On the ground floor, they have the Marketplace, which offers both indoor and outdoor dining on the terrace, offering international cuisine, including pasta, pizzas and burgers. It is open 24 hours. The Tazama Rooftop restaurant is on the fifth floor, with views towards Nairobi National Park in one direction and the airport runway in the other. This is open for lunch and dinner and specialises in roasts and grills. You will also find a bar, casual seating area, and the open-air, unheated swimming pool with comfortable sunloungers on the rooftop.

Each of the hotel's 172 en-suite rooms is modern in design with white, blue, and grey themes. They are made up of a selection of standard rooms, deluxe rooms, and suites. Each has large twin or double beds, air conditioning, a 42-inch TV, a writing desk, internet access, tea and coffee-making facilities, and an electronic room safe.

The bathrooms have a single wash basin, shower and toilet. Toiletries, bathrobes and slippers are provided. 

The Four Points by Sheraton Nairobi Airport has a fitness room with a selection of cardio and weight machines, as well as a spa and steam room.

Kenya's capital, Nairobi, is an unavoidable stopover as most international flights arrive at night. Most people are keen to head out on safari as soon as possible and tend not to spend much time in the city. But for those who choose to spend an extra night or two to adjust to time changes, there are some great hotels and restaurants, and the shopping opportunities—in small shops, malls or outdoor curio markets —can be very good. The Sheldrick Trust needs to be booked well in advance, especially if you want a private experience.

The common areas are beautiful and inviting, filled with family photos, lovely art, comfortable seating and coffee table books. The lodge has a warm, welcoming feel. With only a handful of tents and private cottages, Sirikoi offers a very high-quality, personal experience, combining attention to detail with an unpretentious set-up, excellent food and friendly staff. The lodge overlooks a marsh fed by the Sirikoi Stream, shaded by giant acacia trees and dotted with wildlife.

The four luxury tents are handsome and spacious, overlooking the green lawn and the waterhole. Each guest tent is built on a platform with a private veranda, a living area with a fireplace and an elegant bathroom with a Victorian bath and a shower.

Lewa Conservancy is a 45,000-acre private conservancy that sits high on a 6000 foot plateau between the slopes of Mt Kenya and the dry arid deserts to the north. The scenery is spectacular with a lovely rolling landscape, big skies and rarified air. The wildlife is diverse and includes some of the species that are endemic to northern Kenya such a Grevy's zebra, reticulated giraffe and gerenuk. It is also a Rhino conservation area and there are good numbers of both black and white rhino.

We love Lewa for the diversified game drives, fantastic hikes, and great variety and freedom. In addition, due to its location we can access areas of great interest outside the private conservancy such as the forests of Mt Kenya, Ngare Ndare’s magical Blue pools (both recognized as part of the UNESCO designated Mount Kenya World Heritage Site), and the vast northern frontier district. Lewa has an excellent and unique relationship with its neighbouring communities, allowing for great opportunities to visit some of the local villages and schools to get a feel for their customs and culture.

Ubuntu Migration Camp - South

Tanzania

Between mid-November and mid-March, it is situated on the open southern plains. From mid-June to October, the camp is located in the northern Serengeti, where the herds are caught as they move back into the Serengeti from the Mara.

Ubuntu is a traditional safari camp; it is very simple but comfortable. The camp has 10 Meru-style guest tents (two are joined as a family unit), each with an en suite bathroom and a traditional safari bucket shower. There is a communal dining tent and mess area.

Ubuntu is an excellent option if you are looking for good value and a great location to access the migration.

We love their southern location, offering an exceptional, up-close migration experience ( if you get the timing right).

An area of roughly 15,000 km sq, it is a jewel within the Greater Serengeti ecosystem and a haven for wildlife. In this vast wilderness you feel you can explore forever and never tire of it.

Vast short-grass plains cover the south of Serengeti National Park, stretching into the north of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and Maswa Game Reserve. The majority of this area is flat open savannah, dotted with occasional small rocky outcrops, Kopjes. The plains are alive with grazing wildebeest from around late-November to April, although the precise timing of the migration is entirely dependent upon rainfall patterns each An estimated two million wildebeest, half a million zebras, and countless other herbivores traverse the ecosystem during this time.

Namiri Plains Tented Camp

This small, tented camp has extensive views over the endless sweeping plains surrounding it. There are 11 modern safari tents with spacious verandas and beautiful interiors, (including a family unit) spread on either side of the main areas. With heavy stone walls and taut, multi-peaked cream canvas awnings, they are imposing structures quite unlike any other camp.

In July 2023, Namiri Plains opened the Namiri Retreats, two private tented villas with a private main area and swimming pool. The design and style of the two villas echo the main lodge, offering a more exclusive and luxurious experience at Namiri. They come with private chefs, butlers, and guides.

The vast spaces of the eastern short grass plains will take your breath away. The plains are dotted with dramatic rocky outcrops. The Ngare Nanyuki underground river in the eastern Serengeti creates pockets of permanent water that support year-round game concentrations of plains game; the predator densities are incredible, especially for lions and cheetah.

If you visit between November and May, you may be fortunate enough to catch the migration as it passes through.

Sayari Camp

The camp is split into two wings. Each wing has its own dining, bar and lounge tent. One wing comprises nine tents, the other six tents. The tents are spacious and are equipped with either a king size bed or twin beds, a huge bath tub, shower, double sinks and hot and cold running water. Each tent has its own veranda where you can observe the overlooking the Serengeti plains. When you are not out on game drives, relax in camp by the swimming pool, make use pf the spa or curl up with a book in the library area.

New in 2023 is the addition of the Sayari Retreats, two two-bedroomed villas, which are a short drive away from the main camp. The Retreats can be occupied either independently or together, they are ideal small groups of friends or family travelling together. Each villa has a main lounge with two en-suite bedrooms lead off each side of the lounge. The villas operate independently from the main camp and each has a small kitchen with its own chef and butler, as well as its own safari guide and vehicle. A central area is located between the two villas with a dining area and another kitchen, ideal if a larger party is occupying both villas. There is also a small swimming pool.

The northern Serengeti is home to good numbers of local resident wildlife throughout the year; it is a fantastic location for predators and the river is a permanent home for hippos and crocodiles. From mid-July to November, it hosts the great herds migrating between Kenya and Tanzania. An estimated two million wildebeest, half a million zebras, and countless other herbivores traverse the ecosystem during this time.

Choosing the right location within the ecosystem and the right season are of utmost importance, possibly more important than any other factors when planning your trip. We feel that the wildlife is phenomenal year-round in the northern Serengeti, with an incredible variety of different animals and good numbers of predators. However, during the few months of the peak tourist season the area can suffer terribly from overcrowding, which can detract from your experience. Our favourite time here is the low season when the migration isn’t in the area but all the resident wildlife is still spectacular and there are far fewer tourists.
