Wilderness Linkwasha Camp
Hwange National Park
Zimbabwe
The private Linkwasha Concession within Zimbabwe's renowned Hwange National Park is home to Linkwasha Camp, which looks out across a pan with a permanent waterhole that attracts wildlife year-round.
Modern and luxurious, Linkwasha provides a comfortable place to stay in the game-rich area of Hwange. Linkwasha's location, at the eastern end of Hwange National Park, permits easy access to the Ngamo Plains, which is well known for its large herds of elephant, buffalo and plains game and numerous predators such as lion and cheetah. Being in a private concession, you benefit from exclusive and flexible game viewing, which includes walking and night drives.
The camp's eight ensuite tents – including one family tent – are set on either side of the central area, overlooking the pan. The guest tents have panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. They are big and comfortable, with a seating area, desk, and ensuite bathroom.
Raised platforms connect each tent to the multi-level decks of the central area, and a large plunge pool provides welcome relief during the hotter months.
There are three indoor areas here: an open-plan, open-sided library, lounge and bar; a dining area where evening meals are served; and an enclosed "winter lounge" with comfortable sofas and an open fireplace, providing a cosier spot during the colder mornings and nights (late May to early August).
About This Area
About the area
Bordering Botswana, Hwange National Park is Zimbabwe's largest game park, with an area of 14,600km². Its sheer size means that its scenery, vegetation and game vary hugely, ranging from the south's semi-desert scrub on the Kalahari's edge to forests, granite hills and valleys of mopane woodlands in the north.
The national park is home to over 100 mammal species, including lion, leopard and rhino. It is best known for its large population of elephants. Most animals are spotted in the dry season (August to October) when the wildlife congregates around the shrunken water holes.
