Qorokwe Camp

Okavango Delta

Botswana

Log Out

Opened in November 2017, the luxurious yet contemporary Qorokwe Camp stands in a private, wildlife-rich area southeast of the Okavango Delta, bordering Botswana’s Moremi Game Reserve. The camp has great views over a large lagoon fed by the Santandadibe River—classic Delta scenery.

Qorokwe is a contemporary safari camp that stands out from the more traditional tented safari designs. The open sides of the central area offer views of the lagoon and the woodland beyond, as well as the swimming pool and firepit. Wildlife like buffalo and elephants often come to enjoy the permanent water in the lagoon.

There is a small infinity pool and a large circular firepit, jutting out slightly over the edge of the lagoon.

Qorokwe boasts nine spacious suites, (the family suite has its own plunge pool) each raised on a platform a few feet off the ground, offering panoramic views over the lagoon and bush. The large wooden deck leads to an open-plan room. All suites feature wood-and-steel frames stretched with canvas, floor-to-ceiling mesh windows, and large sliding doors.

The landscape around Qorokwe is diverse and typical of this region of the Okavango Delta. It consists of dry mopane woodland and palm-dotted islands amongst floodplains bisected by seasonal waterways. The area is known for its high predator densities.

At Qorokwe, the focus is on exploring the area on game drives, guided walks with an armed guide, mokoro excursions, and occasionly it is possible to include boat trips on the nearby Santantadibe River, depending on water levels.

Qorokwe doesn’t have a spa, but its in-house beauty therapist can offer several treatments in the comfort of your room or on your private deck.

About This Area

The Okavango Delta was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2014. It is the world's largest inland Delta. During the flood season, waters push into Botswana from Angola, transforming the Kalahari into a lush oasis teeming with life.

The Delta is home to a wide variety of vegetation, including reed beds, papyrus swamps, and grasslands. These provide habitat for an astonishing array of wildlife, from large mammals like elephants, buffaloes, lions, leopards and hippos, to crocodiles, teeny frogs, fish, and numerous bird species. It is a thriving ecosystem adapted to its seasonal fluctuations.

The water experience includes gliding silently through the Delta's channels as you are poled along in "mokoros" or canoes and exhilarating adventures in much faster motor-powered aluminium speedboats. The land experience usually occurs in open Landrovers centering around wildlife with walks in some areas.
